Running Injuries

 Running Injuries

"It is not a matter of IF you will get injured running it is only a matter of WHEN."

The above quote is one that is often repeated by runners around the globe.  If you are a runner or have a runner in your life it sometimes seems if they come up with a new complaint related to running almost daily.  The reason for this is simply most runners don't do anything by way of prevention or ever address the cause of their issues.  When the true cause is not addressed the problems will multiply up the body from the ground up.  The second part of the above quote should read, "But only if you continue to do the same things."  Dr. Broda has treated hundreds of runners over the years get ready for and through their first marathons, 10K's, or 5K's.  Often these patients have had prior treatment by other healthcare providers with limited or no success.  These patients often end up in our office as a last resort and usually leave wishing they had tried us first.  Most have no idea that Chiropractors can help manage running injuries or feet problems.

Common running injuries we see are:
Plantar Fascitis
Achilles Tendonitis
IT band problems
Low back pain
Calf strains

Dr. Broda has spent years studying the mechanics of running and lower body injury.  It is with this knowledge we can assess and treat most injuries without using the most dreaded words a runner never wants to hear, "Just stop running and rest it."  Anyone who has ever run will tell you that resting a problem on helps temporarily and the same problem will usually return once you begin running again.  The solution is frequently not to just get new shoes or inserts either.  The solution is to find the source and address the problem and then prevent it from coming back.

We tackle the problem by using hands on techniques and exercises that address the whole body because everything is connected.  The main cause of a running related injuries is frequently not where it hurts but an area away above or below the injury.  Identifying that area is the hard part and requires years of experience to fully understand.  It is our hope that you will choose our expertise to provide you with the solution to get you back on the road again.
